The Common Core is a set of educational standards that have been adopted by most states in the United States. These standards are supposed to ensure that all students are learning the same material at the same time, regardless of where they live. However, there is growing evidence that the Common Core is actually ng more harm than good.

Here are some of the ways that the Common Core is harming our children:

  • The Common Core is too rigorous. The standards are simply too difficult for many students to master. This is especially true for students from low-income families and students of color. As a result, many students are falling behind and losing interest in learning.
  • The Common Core is too narrow. The standards focus on a limited number of skills and knowledge. This means that students are not learning the critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and creativity skills they need to succeed in the 21st-century workforce.
  • The Common Core is too standardized. The standards are the same for all students, regardless of their individual needs. This means that students who need more support are not getting it, and students who are ready to move ahead are being held back.
  • The Common Core is too politicized. The standards have been developed by a small group of unelected officials. These officials have their own agenda, which is not necessarily in the best interests of students. As a result, the Common Core is often used to promote a particular political ideology.

What can we do about the Common Core?

There are a number of things that we can do to fight the Common Core. Here are a few ideas:
